This is very important for search engine optimisation. Google and other search engines look very favourably on web properties that post unique, original content. The search engine robots are highly likely to visit your web site on a regular basis to scan for new content you’ve created if you post original, fresh content regularly..

There is nothing wrong with referring to authoritative sources, or quoting other websites or publishers, or indeed with linking to other websites if you feel the source is relevant to the topic you are discussing. The content should be either written for you by one of your employees or an author you have contracted, or written by you – whichever way, you must ensure you are legally able to reproduce it.

Fresh, original content will help with getting your website regularly spidered by the search engines. Within your overall SEO strategy, this is a fairly small, but very very important part. You won’t achieve the success you are looking for if you don’t produce your own unique copy for your web property. If you were once able to produce a website created entirely from content scraped or copied from other websites and expect any decent rankings, they are surely gone.

That is not to say that syndicated content does not have it’s place. RSS feeds, including news feeds relevant to your particular business niche, can be a valuable addition to the information you provide to your visitors, and can help to provide even more on-topic, relevant information. The original content should be the main ‘meat’, and these sources of information should be used to complement the information you provide.
