Give Me Coffee or Give Me Nothing

by Taylor Barkley

We wake up in the morning and there are not too many aromas that are sure to get us excited about the day ahead. The fresh smell of coffee, however, is certainly one that sends all the right signals to a weary body.

If you don’t know how to make a cup of coffee or have never done it for yourself, there’s really nothing to it. All you need to do it yourself is a tin of coffee that can be bought at any store, boiling water, milk and sugar. Put a teaspoon of coffee in a mug and add the rest of the contents as you like. Stir and enjoy!

Coffee is easier to make than tea because you don’t have to worry about disposing teabags afterwards. It’s quick, easy and it tastes like heaven on earth. It’s so much better making coffee rather than tea because you know you’ll be able to make it during commercial breaks, so you won’t miss anything on TV.

Another great thing about coffee is that it can set the mood. Mornings are great with a hot cup of coffee to wake you up, but evening time is sometimes even better for the true coffee experience. If you go out to the movies or dinner, it’s always great to pull up a chair at a coffee shop and order a nice warm mug with some dessert.

Your coffee also gives you great value in the home. It can be combined with a variety of other drinks to form even more delicious beverages. Espresso is the result of a shot of liqueur added to normal coffee and it will give you a stronger tasting drink than regular coffee. Sweet liqueurs can also produce tasty results. Another popular combination is coffee and hot chocolate, which gives us mocha, a big favorite in restaurants.

That’s not all either. Besides all the different types of lattes that can be made with coffee, you can also enjoy the taste of coffee on ice. Blend together coffee and ice and get iced coffee, a great tasting drink that gives you something different to normal smoothies. Add ice cream and you get a coffee shake, which is a favorite with many people.

Sometimes those snacks you love are just not the same without coffee on the side. Toast with peanut butter or jelly just tastes so much better when complimented with a warm cup of coffee, while biscuits or cake just have to be enjoyed with coffee. You can even dip your biscuits to add a coffee taste to the flavour. Delicious!

True coffee connoisseurs won’t be satisfied until they get their fix of real filter coffee. This is not your ordinary coffee in a tin, but imported coffee beans roasted to perfection in a pot or kettle. The aroma is unmistakable and the taste even better. Brewed coffee is probably the best tasting drink you can make in your own home.
