Many believe that the history of this holiday that is celebrated on February 14th every year is based on the story of early Roman times. A man named Valentine was a clergyman and that the ruler at the time was a fellow called Claudius II, an emperor, who was ruling Rome.

Today Valentine’s Day is marked by couples exchanging gifts of flowers, candy, jewelry and other fine items. Taking pictures for Valentine’s Day is also an important part of the day, with photographers busy snapping photos of couples in love.

So, as you can see, there is more than one theory as to what is the real meaning behind this day set aside to celebrate love. No matter what you may believe as to the origins of Valentine’s Day, no one can argue the fact that it is a day to shower the people you love with symbols of your devotion.

In the United States in the grade schools, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the classrooms. The children all bring one small Valentine’s Day card with them to place on the desk of each of their classmates. Special Valentine’s Day pictures are taken by the teachers of the plates of cookies and sweets piled high on the treat table.

Many men take this day to show their wives or girlfriends how much they are loved by buying expensive gifts such as elaborate jewelry , large stuffed animals, beautiful bouquets of flowers or even preparing a special romantic dinner. Valentine’s Day is also a day that many men choose to propose marriage to their sweethearts because it is considered ‘the day of love’. Many couples want to be sure to remember this special day by taking pictures for Valentine day so they do not forget the special celebrations they shared on this day. In the elementary schools in the United States, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the classrooms each and every year. Many restaurants carry special wines and champagnes to offer their Valentine’s Day guests.

Regardless of how people choose to celebrate this day of love, there is no doubt that Valentine day pictures are in most couple’s photo albums. It is a day for sweethearts and sweets, and a very popular day to show your lover just how much he or she is adored.
