With the year 2008 almost finished Hollywood produced well over 275 films. In this group of over 300 films, seventy five, or so, are comedies. Let’s name a few of the best funny movies made this year.

FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Grief stricken from a break up with long time girlfriend Sarah, an actress in a cheesy sitcom, Peter finally plans to escape to Oahu to get past the break up. Of course, when he checks into the resort hotel, the first thing he sees is Sarah and her new man, who’s bigger than life. This sets up as a fun filled romantic comedy.

GET SMART: Agent 86, AKA Maxwell Smart is at it again, and everything is under “CONTROL”. The classic James Bond spy spoof, the shoe phone, and all the great one liners. It is a fun look back at this classic spy spoof TV series.

HAMLET 2: Unsuccessful actor Dana Marshz has moved on to teaching theater classes at the high school to uninterested students. When a building is destroyed at the school, the school board figures the theater curriculum must be eliminated. Now fully motivated, he is on a mission to save the theater classes by producing Hamlet 2, a sequel to the original work, which he writes himself.

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As the title suggests, this is the sequel to the animated smash hit Madagascar. Our cast of lost animals, Alex (Lion), Marty (Zebra), Gloria (Hippo), and Melman (Giraffe) are trying to get back to the zoo in New York, which is home for them all. With things going wrong again, thanks to those wacky Penguins again, they find themselves going to their true homeland, Africa.

PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Underachieving pothead Dale unfortunately has just viewed a crooked police man, and a powerful drug dealer, kill someone. They see him witness the killing. Understanding that he has been seen, he drops his joint of pineapple express, and runs. The weed is so special, that the bad guys can track it. The chase is on, the bad guys are hunting, and Dale and dealer Saul are desperately hiding from the bad guys.

ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, a couple of energy drink sales people, might be seeing some hard jail time after trashing the company truck. The only way to avoid serving jail time is to work in community service for 150 hours. Their task will be to work as mentors with difficult children in a big brother type situation. The stage is set for some good comedy.

STEP BROTHERS: When two 40 year olds, who still live with their single parents, will now have to live in the same room because their mom and dad get married, you have one crazy situation. Put Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in those roles, and the conditions are right for a funny movie. This movie is a must see for a good time this year.

TROPIC THUNDER: Filled with great actors the genre of the film is a spoof on Vietnam war movies. To get better results from his crew to create a quality war film, the seemingly bold director into the middle of nowhere, leaving them to fend for themselves. The plan is to overwhelm them into producing a war classic that will be recorded on hidden cameras. Unbelievably, as the director walks over a land mine and is blown apart, the actors are now truly on there own and they start acting, thinking it’s a big set, but the bullets flying are actually real. Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise star.

ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: Rent is over due and Zack and Miri, roommates and good friends, are desperate to make some money. Their solution? Easy, make a dirty movie. Obviously this situation makes for lots of laughs.
