Moving On Up

I used to work for a company that created wooden toys and games. I started out working there as an assembler, but they soon realized that I would be of better value if they sent me out to trade shows to promote their products. I was happy with the change, as it meant that I had more interaction with people and I was not stuck inside doing the same thing day after day.

A couple of years after I started doing the sales, I was promoted to the head of marketing. It was then my job to go to big companies and toy and game stores to try and sell an inventory of our products. Though it was a lot more stressful, I enjoyed this.

The mistake the company made was moving me up too quickly. I soon realized that there was absolutely no more room for advancement in the company. At that point I went looking for a new job.
