Becoming a Dad for the First Time
My husband, a commodities broker, recently decided that he wanted to do something else with his life. He said that, though he did not hate his job, he wanted to do something that made him feel more fulfilled and he wanted something that would let him spend more time with his kids, whom he said were growing up much too quickly.
We decided that we were going to open our own sporting goods store. He decided that he would hire someone to manage it and that he would be able to be there when he wanted to be and be at home if he wanted to be.
Since opening the business, my husband has not missed a single one of the kid’s soccer games or ballet recitals. He is finally allowed to be the dad that he always wanted to be and I finally have a husband that can pay some attention to me. I think it is the greatest decision he has ever made in his life, even if we do make less money.
