Consumerism and Gross Consumption

It’s no wonder that Americans are looked upon as fat, lazy and rich. Compared to most of the rest of the world, we are. Super size everything. Give me big of it! What the average family spends on fast food in a month would feed two families in a developing country for at least a month.

I was searching for golf shirts online recently and discovered that there are just too many choices. You can get pique or pima cotton, you can get anti-microbial shirts, textured shirts, long or short sleeve shirts, striped or plain shirts, shirts with mesh underarm gussets or without, and let us not forget your favorite brand mark embroidered on the back of the shirt below the collar.

Is it just me, or isn’t this a bit excessive? Just wear a comfortable shirt, people! You’re out there sweating in the sun or golfing in the rain. Why would you pay almost $30 each for half a dozen shirts you only wear to play golf in? Okay, end of rant.
