A Promise to Ourselves
Every year, my wife and I sit down and review the goals that we had set for ourselves the year before. This habit may seem a little funny, but it has allowed us to accomplish things that most couples struggle with like paying off our mortgage early.
Our habit has given clarity and focus to our daily lives and puts what we want right within our grasp.
Last night, we both sat down to figure out how we did on the goals that we set last year as well as to make new goals for the upcoming year. As it turns out, we were pretty successful on achieving the goals that we had made last year, except for buying a new car - that is where we fell short. But, we were happy with the progress we did make and had to decide on a direction for this year.
Out of the many things that came up including renovating our home, we decided that it was time that we took a break from work and enjoy life for a change. So we have set as a goal to take two worldwide trips and tours over the course of the next year as a reward for all of our hard work.
Now all we have to do is make a plan to attain our goals and execute it. I think that will be the subject of tonight’s talk.
