Checking for Students That Bought Essays
I have been given the job to check for students that have purchased online essays and submitted them as their own work. It is part of the university anti-plagiarism program. I have been assigned to special task force that tries to keep this type of fraudulent activity to a minimum and we report to the university president.
We have started going through all of the application essays that were submitted for application to the fall session. What we do, is scanned the essays and run them through some specialized software that scours the Internet to see if there are any duplicates of the essay that they submitted. If it comes up as a duplicate, we forward that information to the university president and action will be taken against that student.
We are also implementing a research paper submission solution that will allow us to check submitted essays against those that are available online in a time efficient manner. Hopefully, that system will be ready before the fall term begins.
