Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls
I have a friend from high school that is extremely bossy. In high school, we used to listen to a band called TLC and they sang a song called Waterfalls. There was a line in the song that stated “I know that you’re gonna have it your way or nothing at all”. This pretty much summed up what she was like. It had to be her way or we didn’t do it.
Don’t get me wrong. I loved her to death and I still do, but she could be so exasperating sometimes. The biggest issue back then was that it was just easier to let her have all the control, so none of us really ever stood up to her. When we became adults and headed out into the real world, things changed a little bit.
She would always be asking us for favors and we would be at her beck and call. One day, we had all had enough, so we finally told her that if she asked for practical favors, we would be happy to oblige, but we were not going to be her little slaves any longer. She actually took it really well and apologized to all of us.
We are still great friends, but I have to admit, she is a lot easier to like since we stopped doing everything she told us to.
