My First College Job
When I first went to college, I was looking for a part time job, so that I could earn a little bit of spending money. My parents were paying for my tuition and my living expenses, but my spending money was up to me. That is when I found the job of handing out student credit card applications. The pay was based on how many students I could recruit for the company and I had always been a great salesman.
I went in search of all my friends from high school and sold them on the fact that they needed college student credit cards. They all reluctantly signed up and I had made far over my quota in that first week. It was a very nice amount of spending money that I had earned and I was ready to do a little shopping.
I blew that whole first paycheck, which was not a smart thing, as I had never thought about the fact that, the further we got into school and classes, the harder it would be to sell credit cards for students. After all, there were a lot more scouts than just me on campus and after the first couple of weeks, the market was pretty saturated. I guess I would need another job.
