A Much Needed Break
It is hard to believe that my daughter is already working on her dissertation. She is a very smart girl and we knew she would do great things one day, but it is hard for me to believe that she is all grown up. It seems like just yesterday that I was walking her into her first day of kindergarten.
She came home last weekend for a visit. I think she wanted to take a break from her thesis writing and just be able to relax. I know that it was never far from her mind, but it was nice to see her sitting on the deck in the sun with a book that she was reading purely for pleasure and not for research.
We did discuss the progress she was making on her dissertation a little bit, but I tried to keep most of the conversation light. I knew that when she got back to school on Monday, her brain would be back on full thesis mode, so I wanted her to enjoy the break. We played some cards and worked a little bit in the flower beds. I think that the break was good for her and by Sunday night she was ready to go back.
