Changes to College Application Methods
Back in the olden days when I started college (about twelve years ago) we mailed in our admission essays with our application for enrollment. In most cases, you had to make sure that you sent it away early, just in case there was a delay in mailing your envelope to the college.
Fast forward ten years.
It has only been a few short years since most colleges started to allow online essays to be submitted with an online application form for college. Not only does this save the environment (through a reduced use of trees), but it made the application process easier.
Time and clutter is reduced as well. Now, one can skim an application essay to determine if the candidate should get further reviews, or just be denied enrollment. It has made the job of picking students much easier.
It will be interesting to see what the next progression of college registration methods - who knows what the future will have in store.
