Safety at the Fair
My son was fascinated by the many booths selling various things at our local county fair. There is no end to what can be found there. We had a friend that was set up, trying to sell his custom license plates, and although Ryan had seen these many times before, he was even fascinated with them. I wonder if it was that he was so full of sugar and that absolutely everything would fascinate him.
It was hard to get him to stand still and listen to us long enough for us to explain the safety signs to him and what he should do if he finds himself separated from us. There was so much to do and so much to see that he did not want to waste his time listening to boring speeches about safety and rules.
As he was running off to a booth that sold custom decals, we had to threaten him. We told him that if he did not stand still and listen to what we had to say that we would just go home. That got his attention, as he had been waiting all summer for this day to come. We ended up having a great time and Ryan is already talking about going back to the fair next summer. And, amazingly enough, we managed to make it through the day without losing him.
