Free Digital Media
While I was at the University today, I happened to notice that they were having a technology event. There were many companies that were giving away free samples of digital media (such as blank CDs, DVDs, and flash drives) as promotional items.
Now, sometimes you get a little skeptical when companies give things away for free, but these people really had nothing for sale. Though it was strange, it was an excellent opportunity for these companies to exhibit and brand their products.
There was also a display about the new free search of the university’s archives that had just went live. It was really neat that you could search their thousands of books, journals and maps that were available in the many libraries on campus - all from one site. This was definitely a long time coming, but after the demonstration, it was definitely worth the wait.
I was very happy that I chose today to go on campus - with all the free goodies I came home with, it was definitely worth the trip.
