Reliable or Cheap - Questions Regarding Web Hosting
Just like with many other areas of our lives, as webmasters, we tend to shop around. Sure, we shop for things that most people don’t shop for such as domain names, scripts and web hosting, but really there is not a lot of difference.
Perhaps the biggest challenge is attaining a happy medium with out purchases. Take website hosting for example. Now there are a lot of companies that offer cheap web hosting - though each of them may have a different price. What you really need to watch for is the level of cheap-ness - if you pay too little, you will get poor service.
On the other end of the spectrum there is reliability. For example, this site and other sites on my network are on reliable web hosting - but I also pay more for this service. My reasoning for the extra cost is that I cannot afford to lose the source of my livelihood (my income) so, I don’t mind paying a few extra dollars to ensure that my revenue stream does not dry up.
So, when you are considering which website host to go with, be sure to weigh in both of your options: reliability and price - and find a happy medium between them.
