I’ll Admit I’m Cheap - Now Give me a Loan
Ok, well as you can see in the title - I’ll admit that I am cheap. Now, you might ask what this has to do with anything - I don’t blame you. Well, this week I went to see my banker about a car loan.
You see my car hasn’t been doing so great. With winter fast approaching, I need reliable wheels to get to and from work - I really don’t want to have to take the bus. So, I went to talk to him about what I needed.
What he suggested is that I should get an unsecured loan - that was typically what most people would get if they were buying a car. So, we went over the financing term and the interest rate I was going to pay - and I was shocked.
I asked him if this is what the bank considered to be a cheap loan - it didn’t seem that I would be getting a good rate at all. I suppose it could be the fact that in recent years we have been bombarded with advertising on television about 0% financing on new vehicles - but really, I didn’t feel that I was getting a good deal.
I asked him to do better.
He went to talk to his manager and came back five minutes later. They were willing to give me a loan at a 25% discount compared to their first offer. So I took it. Now I can go get my new wheels.
Too bad I only have sixty more payments to go…. sigh.
